night night

This is Alex's little buddy Lilly. They have a lot in common. Neither one of them will let anyone but their moms pick them up.
Every night, Alex whispers "night night" to Ri-Ree.

BR

I miss you Billy Rae.
Are you out there? Let's hang out.

Siesta Key 5K

I decided to run a 5K race on the beach on Saturday.
My Virtual Friends can look for me on the right hand side of this picture with a blue shirt and a visor.
I was only deep in the pain cave for about 10 of the 20 minutes...unlike bike racing which is at least 1 hour of torture.

#126

I was the last person to register on a counta my sleeping in because my little buddy wanted to socialize during the wee hours.
This way I am sure how many participants were in the race.

The Big Weiner

Look! I WON!
I was 7th place overall, and the 1st female finisher. The wind was at my back.
I won a beautiful Orchid and a haircut.
My only regret is not wearing the medal that's in my hand for this picture.
(However, I did wear the medal the rest of the day on the beach in my bikini...nasty, nasty tan line)

Bubble Gum Toes

All the girls got their nails painted with Bubble Gum Pink polish.

A rare photo opportunity

Look at the Ladies all stacked up in the background.
From the left:
Alex's Grandma Mary Jane, Alex's Great Grandma Mimi, Alex's Grancie, and Alex's Great Aunt Dee Dee.

RI-REE

Sooooo many pictures to download, and too tired to make it happen tonight.
However, Alex has made a friend down here, she is a cute little dog named Lilly.
Alex calls her, "RI-REE". (That accent must be from the Asian side of the family.)

The Gulf of Mexico

We call this outfit the "Charlie's Angel Outfit".

train harder

Alex is in training for the "strong baby competition".
We call this exercise, EMPTY THE OCEAN.

Hippy Drumming

Alex and I planned on joining the smelly hippies for the Sunday night drumming circle. We followed the smell of the wacky tobacky, which led us right to the drummers. Then I noticed the Tsunami in the background. So I loaded up my little hippy in the superfast buggy, and hauled the mail outa there.

Drumming circle of 1

We had our own little drumming circle closer to home.
The chicken is intense when she is drumming.

"Mama, I love the 941."

Alex thinks she's in heaven. She goes from 1 water activity to the next, ALL DAY LONG.
Then when she's done, she gets a bath.

Noodling

We told Alex not to look the fish in the eye while she is "noodling".
Nice work on the snake eyes, chicken.
(And snake eyes is the secret to the competitive game of 4 square, WHICH happened to be your Mama's super power when she was in grade school.)

941 here we come

The Easter Bunny made it Nana and Bapa's house too! Can you believe it?!
We are headed to the 941 for some much needed sunshine.
Tune in later in the week for some sand-eating, bikini-wearing, curly-haired goodness.

Cuz she's my best friend...

Rae got dipped.
I have been noticing that Rae has managed to work herself into almost every picture that we have of Alex.

Easter egg hunt #1

Easter egg hunt #1 was bunk. It was craaaaaazzzzy windy, and the 2 year olds cleaned up. See the 2 bruisers behind Alex? Yeah, this wasn't their first rodeo.
Alex was happy with her 1 egg however.

#2

Easter egg hunt #2 was more her speed.

Green Machine

This is the Big Wheel of the New Millenium.
Just so you know, the helmet is not hers, it belongs to the owner of the Green Machine.

Big girl

Alex can finally do the slide all by herself, and she's real proud.
She did this about 80 times, and each time she would spend a few seconds to clear her hands of grass specs before her next run.

We're stressed

Virtual Friends,
It's been a bumpy road here at the homefront the past few days. You see, Alex has been plagued with ear infections since she started cutting teeth. She's working on her 6th ear infection right now! We've decided to take her off the bottle completely in hopes that her ears will clear up. Our poor little chicken is having a rough time adjusting...actually we're all having a hard time adjusting.
I've never been a fan of the "Cry It Out" method, but here we are, letting her cry it out.
Alex, if you're reading this, I hope you know that we love you, and that we cried too.
I hope we're doing the right thing...
Parenting is seriously stressful.

On another note, Alex says:
Cheese when she sees trees or geese
Moons when she sees balloons
nonos when she sees windows
and Buzz when she wants to watch "Toy Story".

Pirate ship

Squishfacealex was standing on the upper deck of the Pirate ship at the park talking to all the people down below.
This picture reminds me of that game where you pull your face real tight and say,
"MOM, MY PIGTAILS ARE TOO TIGHT!"

Meet my friends

I told you it was getting crowded in her crib.
This is exactly how Alex falls asleep, with all of her buddies.

Can anyone recommend a good conditioner?

Alex brushed her hair with her stuffed animals.
Seriously. Look. At. Her. Hair.

As I look at these photos, I am thinking to myself that I am SOOOO GLAD that nobody follows me around with a damn camera.

New doggie

Our little chicken got something special in the mail the other day. She almost crapped her diaper when she saw her new dog.

carries her everywhere

while she sleeps

She always asks for each of her animals by name when we put her in her crib, it's getting pretty full.

hear me now grasshopper

I caught Alex in mid-sentence in this pic. She was passionately explaining something to her car. She sported those glasses for most of the morning, then in the afternoon, she walked around the house with her eyes closed and an underbite.
I hear that an underbite is a sign of dominance (in dogs).

Word of the day:

Turtle.
Only Alex pronounces it "Tur Tul", with an emphasis on the T's.
She also calls her Incredible Hulk doll, "Huckel".

First day of spring

The girls were all dolled up for the fabulous wedding that we attended today.

the entertainment

Alex entertained the groomsmen and the bridesmaids by chasing these balloons.

Alex's first haircut

Alex got her hair cut for the first time today. It started out a little rough, with GIANT tears.

Hey, this isn't so bad

Alex finally calmed down, and began enjoying her sucker.

The finished product

It looks AMAZING, doesn't it? We didn't have time for a blow dry.

From our blog to your home, thanks for tuning in and thanks for being in our lives.

somebody has the giggles

Have you ever laughed so hard that you thought you were going to puke?
Alex has.

Out to lunch

Alex brought 3 friends with us to Tokyo Joes today. Black Bear, Tiger and Rhino.

Don't lick the waffle!

"Don't lick the waffle!"
I need to come up with a list of sentences that I've never said before I had a kid.
Alex and I went to the mall today. Despite my best judgement, I let her play in the E-Coli breakfast food play area.
See the lady in the background, leaning over? She was making a special effort to get in my photos. I have 3 of the leaning, smiling, lady.
Hey Leaning Lady, I like your style.

Meet Marty Moose

Marty Moose is in a timeout. He has goosed Alex one too many times in the bathtub. Marty camouflages himself real good in the bathmat, she leans forward, and BAM!

new jellies!

Sometimes she'll get going so fast and catch the front-end of these bad boys, only to meet the ground. Just don't take em off her though.

Wacha doin?

Kids are so weird.

pig tails

How cute are those pig tails? I just love em!
We've been experiencing a winter melt-down, and it's been sooo fun to spend our days outside.
We usually walk to one park in the morning, then a nap and lunch, and then we bike to another park in the afternoon. It sure is fun being a kid.

True Story

This was the dinner conversation at work.

Guy #1: Yesterday I drilled a square drill bit through my thumb and it came out the other side.
Anyone wanna see?

Us: Yeah, let us see. Oooooh gross. Did you pass out? Are you up on your tetanus shots? (Several questions to follow)

Guy #2: See this scar? Yeah, I was using a nail gun, and I nailed these 2 fingers together.

Us: Yuck. What size nail? How did the doctor get the nail out? (Several questions to follow)

Me: One time, an entire baby came out of my vagina.

No questions to follow.

jellies

This is my favorite picture of 2010.
Alex clipped around in these "jellies" after she discovered them in her closet. I'm not sure what this would be called, it's kind of the opposite of "shrimp coctail toes".
Shrimp coctail toes is an unfortunate fashion faux-pas when the offender is wearing sandals too small for them, causing their toes to grip the outer rim of the footwear resembling a shrimp coctail hors d'oeuvre (as defined by the Urban Dictionary).

Being a toddler is very frustrating

Teeth are overrated. Alex has been having a heck of a time growing these recent molars. She get so irritated due to her discomfort, that she clenches her fists, immediately falls to the ground, and then looks up at us like we're supposed to know what to do.
ALEX, WE ARE ROOKIES. WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT GROWING A REAL-LIVE HUMAN BEING.
Here she is, lying in the gutter, trying to explain to us that she's mad, REAL MAD.
