Pirate ship

Squishfacealex was standing on the upper deck of the Pirate ship at the park talking to all the people down below.
This picture reminds me of that game where you pull your face real tight and say,
"MOM, MY PIGTAILS ARE TOO TIGHT!"

Meet my friends

I told you it was getting crowded in her crib.
This is exactly how Alex falls asleep, with all of her buddies.

Can anyone recommend a good conditioner?

Alex brushed her hair with her stuffed animals.
Seriously. Look. At. Her. Hair.

As I look at these photos, I am thinking to myself that I am SOOOO GLAD that nobody follows me around with a damn camera.

New doggie

Our little chicken got something special in the mail the other day. She almost crapped her diaper when she saw her new dog.

carries her everywhere

while she sleeps

She always asks for each of her animals by name when we put her in her crib, it's getting pretty full.

cutie

White picket fence teeth.

hear me now grasshopper

I caught Alex in mid-sentence in this pic. She was passionately explaining something to her car. She sported those glasses for most of the morning, then in the afternoon, she walked around the house with her eyes closed and an underbite.
I hear that an underbite is a sign of dominance (in dogs).

Word of the day:

Turtle.
Only Alex pronounces it "Tur Tul", with an emphasis on the T's.
She also calls her Incredible Hulk doll, "Huckel".

First day of spring

The girls were all dolled up for the fabulous wedding that we attended today.

Alex's first haircut

Alex got her hair cut for the first time today. It started out a little rough, with GIANT tears.

Hey, this isn't so bad

Alex finally calmed down, and began enjoying her sucker.

The finished product

It looks AMAZING, doesn't it? We didn't have time for a blow dry.

somebody has the giggles

Have you ever laughed so hard that you thought you were going to puke?
Alex has.

Out to lunch

Alex brought 3 friends with us to Tokyo Joes today. Black Bear, Tiger and Rhino.

Don't lick the waffle!

"Don't lick the waffle!"
I need to come up with a list of sentences that I've never said before I had a kid.
Alex and I went to the mall today. Despite my best judgement, I let her play in the E-Coli breakfast food play area.
See the lady in the background, leaning over? She was making a special effort to get in my photos. I have 3 of the leaning, smiling, lady.
Hey Leaning Lady, I like your style.

Meet Marty Moose

Marty Moose is in a timeout. He has goosed Alex one too many times in the bathtub. Marty camouflages himself real good in the bathmat, she leans forward, and BAM!

new jellies!

Sometimes she'll get going so fast and catch the front-end of these bad boys, only to meet the ground. Just don't take em off her though.

pig tails

How cute are those pig tails? I just love em!
We've been experiencing a winter melt-down, and it's been sooo fun to spend our days outside.
We usually walk to one park in the morning, then a nap and lunch, and then we bike to another park in the afternoon. It sure is fun being a kid.

True Story

This was the dinner conversation at work.

Guy #1: Yesterday I drilled a square drill bit through my thumb and it came out the other side.
Anyone wanna see?

Us: Yeah, let us see. Oooooh gross. Did you pass out? Are you up on your tetanus shots? (Several questions to follow)

Guy #2: See this scar? Yeah, I was using a nail gun, and I nailed these 2 fingers together.

Us: Yuck. What size nail? How did the doctor get the nail out? (Several questions to follow)

Me: One time, an entire baby came out of my vagina.

No questions to follow.

jellies

This is my favorite picture of 2010.
Alex clipped around in these "jellies" after she discovered them in her closet. I'm not sure what this would be called, it's kind of the opposite of "shrimp coctail toes".
Shrimp coctail toes is an unfortunate fashion faux-pas when the offender is wearing sandals too small for them, causing their toes to grip the outer rim of the footwear resembling a shrimp coctail hors d'oeuvre (as defined by the Urban Dictionary).

Being a toddler is very frustrating

Teeth are overrated. Alex has been having a heck of a time growing these recent molars. She get so irritated due to her discomfort, that she clenches her fists, immediately falls to the ground, and then looks up at us like we're supposed to know what to do.
ALEX, WE ARE ROOKIES. WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT GROWING A REAL-LIVE HUMAN BEING.
Here she is, lying in the gutter, trying to explain to us that she's mad, REAL MAD.

Blades of...yes please

Move over 2010 Olympics, "Blades of Glory" is on the other channel.

vitamin D

We spent the afternoon trying to get our fill of Vitamin D, sledding right into the gutter with Alex's BFF's.

tankini covergirl

Alex could be a COVERGIRL in her tankini. (It was impossible to get a full-length picture of her because she was so excited to get into the water.)

little helper

Alex is a big helper, as you can imagine.

money down the drain

We bought a one year pass to the Children's Museum, and ALL ALEX WANTS TO DO IS HUG THIS DOG. This very special animal is found on the Firetruck at the entrance. When we walk in the door, Alex starts panting like a dog until I take her over to see him.
Seriously, I should have just bought the dog, it would have saved us some money

Grocery store clerk

Alex is so calm when trying to remember the codes for the fruits and vegetables at the checkout.

pigtails

Pigtails make Alex look older, don't ya think?

take notes Mia Hamm, this is how it's done

Looks like the private soccer coach that I hired has really been paying off. Supergirl has some mad skills.

Mommy and the chicken

Mommy showing Alex the art of catching snowflakes on the tongue.

Friday, February 19, 2010

Hey you!

"God, are you up there? Remember, I asked for a puppy and a cow?"

Luge Olympian

Today we took a page out of the training notebook of the athletes who compete in the Luge.
Alex will tell you, it was a rigorous core workout.

Little winter Olympians

The winter Olympians out for an afternoon training session.

Namaste

Our chicken had a little, teeny, tiny meltdown in the Tampa airport. It was Mama's fault for keeping her up all day, in hopes that she would sleep the entire flight. That plan could have really backfired.
But, after a catnap, she was all smiles for the 4 hour flight, I am so proud of her!
Oh yeah, I probably should mention that the family, in the row in front of us on the airplane was deaf. Seriously. Deaf. As in, sign language deaf.
That is the Universe saying, "...enjoy your flight, and go ahead and scream at the exciting parts of the movie Alex. And you can clap too."
Namaste.

Uncle Bapa

Little Buddy and her Uncle Bapa playing in the surf.

Siesta Key in February

no pants, no shoes

A winter coat, and a diaper.
This is an outfit that you may find on a child at your local Walmart.

go ahead and eat that

Eating a crumbly muffin in my own car is totally unacceptable, however, in a rental car, we make exceptions.

Monday, February 15, 2010

Hey Mama, I got a question for you...

Alex is going to look at this picture in 20 years, and she's going to be all, "Hey Mama, are you sure that Richard Simmons isn't my Daddy?"
Those sure are some curly locks kid.
We're having some fun in the sunshine state, even though it's not that sunny. I don't know how Alex is ever going to get a base tan with all these clouds.

Valentines girls

My Valentines girls.
These two stayed in the water for a record 2 hours this morning! They were all wrinkled and had the "swim tireds" on the drive home.

hoods up

It was a hoods up kind of day. Not a "sun's out guns out" kind of day.

boys are funny

Alex gets to spend a week with her Uncle Travis. He's gonna teach her some cool games that boys play like this one.

eating the snow

We were outside for about 20 minutes this time, and my little pocket pal LOVED the snow.
She helped me shovel by eating as much snow as she could in front of me.

All bundled up

Here is Alex and me making the best of the 20 degree weather.

pushing the stool

Alex is real good at pushing out that stool.

Our little 16 monther

Can any of my Virtual Friends recommend a good book on behavior modification for temper tantrum-throwing toddlers?
Alex will make periodic demands throughout the day, and if not met to her satisfaction, she will arch her back, fall to the ground, and occasionally bang her head (Ozzy style), because, she simply cannot go on living, if "THAT KID, TOUCHES THAT STUFFED ANIMAL ONE MORE TIME!"

Thursday, February 4, 2010

oh uh uh

The Chicken's determination is evident in her tongue sticking out of her mouth. Today she figured out that she must take the steps up the slide, in order to enjoy the ride down.

Today, I was giving her a bottle and humming a song to her (like I have done since she was 1 hour old), and do you know what she did?????
She took the bottle out of her mouth, and looked at me and said, "sssshhhhhhhh".
OH NO YOU DIIIIIN'T.
