My Bad

Our little pumpkin is ready for Halloween.
Oh yeah, the flood of phone calls has proven me wrong...
Apparently I know several people who can wipe their whole rear end with their heel - my bad.

1 month old

Dear Alex,
You are already 1 month old.  Since this photo was taken, you've already grown 2 inches and gained 2 pounds!  No, I'm not calling you fat, I'm just saying...
This has been the best, and the hardest month of my life.  You haven't mustered up a smile for us yet, but I think you would if we were funny.  I just want you to know that it takes 3 times as many muscles to frown as it does to smile.
You are getting real good at tracking us with your eyes, and you've even started sleeping 6 hours at night!
Right now, you're the only person I know who can wipe their entire rear end with their heel.
You eat every 3 hours, and I cherish this time with you.  And although I consider taking a Vicoden before you "latch on", these are the best times of my day/night.
You should know that I've set some new standards for myself since you've come into my life...here are a few.
1.  If I don't get around to showering, I will at least take a cat bath every day and "knock the chunks off".
2.  Limit myself to 1 OPRAH show a day.  On several occasions, I've watched the SAME Oprah episode at 4 pm, and again at 4 am.
3.  When friends come over to meet you, I'm only going to pick my underwear out of my butt twice (per visitor).
4.  Have my teeth brushed by noon.
5.  Count my blessings everyday.

I've had you on a strict schedule of EAT, PLAY, SLEEP, every 3 hours with time allotted for each.  This is so not me.  So for now, I'm going to put down the books, and I'm just going to soak up every second of time that I have with you...thanks for that lesson Alex.
Alex, we are sooooo lucky that you are healthy and cute (in that order).  And while I can't wait to show you how to ride a bike, and teach you how to climb trees, and read books, and count bugs, part of me wishes you won't ever grow up.

Love,
Mama

I WILL CUT YOU

Family outing today to REI.  We put Alex in the B-JABY B-JORN so that people wouldn't be as tempted to touch her as they might be if she were in a stroller.
I demanded that BFF create a "safety bubble" around the baby.  If anyone approached and wanted to touch the baby, BFF was supposed to say, "I WILL CUT YOU".
Thankfully, no one attempted such a high risk maneuver.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree

Two peas in a pod, BFF and Alex catching some zzzzz's.
No, we're not those crazy co-sleeper parents, this is nap time and we're freaking tired.

stupid contest

A couple of things...
I am sorry to report that I did not win that stupid snowflake contest at work.
Secondly, I have temporarily hung up my running shoes.  Running made the milk production come to a screeching halt.  It's been 4 days with no running, and the factory seems to be catching back up.  That was a real milk scare.

Hulkness

The Hulk and the Hulk doing the same hand gestures.

Get Buck in here

Captain Buck Rogers and Alex have the same beauty mark...hmmmmmmmm

Codey

Alex checking out Codey.  Codey is gonna teach her how to snowboard...but don't tell Uncle T-Rav that she might grow up to be a knuckle-dragger.

Winner?

Today is the day I picked for the snowflake contest at work...I'm excited about the possibility of winning this contest.

shout out!

Our little firefighter is tuckered out.
A shout out to cuzzin Erin for stitching her the cutest onesie.  When she grows out of this I'm gonna put the firetruck on her jean jacket, classy.

My running partner

My running partner Billy Rae stopped by for a duathalon today.  2 sport SyRae rode her bike to our house, then she ran up the mountain with me.  If it were a race, SyRae would have come in 1st, my boobies 2nd and 3rd, and I wouldn't have even made it on the podium.
Note our matching outfits...AGAIN.

QUESTION...

DO YOU EVER WAKE UP WITH AN ICE CREAM HEADACHE IN YOUR BOOBIES?
I do.  Every 3 hours.

The Crime Scene

Bath time looks like a crime scene when I'm done.  The most important piece of equipment is to the far left, COFFEE.
Readers, I'm loving being a mama.  I knew I'd like her when she came out, I just had no idea how much I would LOVE her.  I don't want her to grow up.  She's got different plans though. She grew 1 and a half inches in 2 weeks!

I'm working on the cut of my jibb as well.  I haven't really gotten on a scale since I pushed the baby out, but I'll post a lawn mowing picture soon.
I do however have a few "very close veins" that I earned during the pregnancy.  Will those go away?

Proof

Proof that I had a shower as well.  Note my wet hair.

Another bath

Another steamy bath.  She's testing the waters with her left foot.  She gets a lot of baths because she has a dirty butt.

BATH TIME

PJ's

I showered today, and I ate lunch sitting down.
For the past 2 weeks, I have been living in my pj's, and brushing my hair with my pillow every morning.  My pocket pal has me on the ropes.  Just when I think I can lay down and nap with her, she opens her eyes real wide and starts making cute noises, which signals that nap time is over.
Today I gained some self respect by washing my hair, and putting on a pair of jeans.

We miss BFF.  It's her first week back at work, and all 3 of us are missing each other...

Way to go Chicken!!!

We went to the doc today.  I actually felt like a normal human being getting out of the house and all.
Alex is in the 50% for height and weight.
Way to go Chicken!!!

Yikes

I realized today that my eyebrows are taking over my face.  Yikes.

mullet

Baby knows it's hockey season, that's why she's growing a mullet.

pythons

It's fun dressing up baby.  Alex has some serious pythons (upper arms).  We had to squeeze them into this dress before she grows out of it.

similar features with longer hair

I think these 2 look alike.  Similar features with longer hair...
No, Virtual friends, this is not the baby Daddy.

Pocket Pal

My little pocket pal worked me over last night.  She literally pulled an all-nighter.  Real funny.
Check out for yourself what my night looked like.  I did learn how to make Italian Lamb chops, and cinnamon, butter flavored gnocci.
On another note, my boobs and I went for a "hike" today.  I used to think that I was going to take up running while my special parts heal.  After the moderate hike today, with a fairly supportive bra, I'm reconsidering.  I'll wait until I can handle a bike seat.

loud and clear

We thought she would wait until she is a teenager...my nipples are all, "yeah, we know who's boss."
By the way, they have been downgraded from a hornet's nest to hot sauce on open wounds. What a relief.

Oh Holy One.

Hulk

Hulk, meet the Hulk.

POO

Our little chicken's first steamy bath.  Note the poo on my shirt.  And that towel around her just strained the chunks while the liquid made its way to my pants, shirt and floor.

Thank you

My nipples would like to thank everyone for the outcry of support that I have received.

Hornet's nest

HELP READERS,

Holy Jesus...Kelly Clarkson...my nipples are en fuego!!!
Breastfeeding has caused my nipples to feel like there is a hornet's nest in my baby's mouth whenever she bellies up to the bar.
How long will this phase last?  I must know in order to persevere with the sweet, sweet nectar.

Instruction manual

Alex is charming the docs in this picture.
I was sorta hoping that Alex was going to come with an instruction manual.  I fullyexpected it to be tucked away in my placenta.  No such luck.

ZZZZZZZZ

sit and stare

This is what I do.  I stare at her all day long.  Sometimes I think she needs a different view, so I move out of her way, but still keep an eye on her.
(Nice work on the IV Nurse Ratchet)

EMO

Dear Readers,
Thank you for your wonderful comments and loyalty while I have been away.  I will download more pics as soon as I find my camera cord.
The past few days have been the most amazing days of my life.  I realize that my hormones may be somewhat wacky, but I had no idea how much I would fall in love with our little girl.  I even miss her when I'm in the same room with her sometimes.
I haven't really been answering my phone, or returning messages, because I am really enjoying every second with baby Alex.  Just know that we're all doing great, and I'll keep you posted...

Oh yeah, does anyone have a good recipe for Bronco Placenta Chili?  (I think they're playing on Sunday and we were gonna make some cornbread.)
