Snow day

BFF, Alex and I had a snow day today.  We hunkered down, rented a movie, and spent the entire day in our jammies.
What a life...

PJ's all day

Still in my PJ's.

Super Sleeper

Guess who slept all night again?
If you guessed me, you're wrong.  If you guessed "Alex Action Pants" you're right!
We are soooooo lucky.  She is a super-sleeper.
She slept from 9 pm until 7 am...for the second night in a row!
I get up to squeeze every drop out of my boobies every 3 hours so that Alex can still eat when I go back to work.

Alex's fan club part un

Uncle Tiffany playing with Alex.  Right after this picture was taken, Alex seriously pooed all the way up to her neck.  We blamed Tiffany.

So tired

Thanksgiving really tuckered her out.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Right before this picture was snapped, BFF was all, "Try not to look so boobie".
Impossible.

Flared cuffs

Remember when holidays meant you had to wear an uncomfortable outfit?  Our little chicken was real uncomfortable in this get up.  She pooed her way out of it though...smart, very smart.

Drinking from a fire hose

Alex is sleeping on Grandpa's shoulder.
Last night, I had a rough time feeding Alex.  I couldn't understand why she was gulping so loud and so quickly.  Milk was all over her outfit (that I accidently put on backwards).
WTF?  I feed her every night, is this something new that she's doing?
Well, somehow, a "high flow" nipple got mixed in with her bottles.  It was like she was drinking from a fire hose.  And just so you know Alex, that's EXACTLY how I've felt for the past 8 weeks!

Brave, brave little girl

Today our chicken had a doctor's appointment for her 2 month well visit.
She had to get a shot, and it absolutely wrecked me.  She took it like a champ, Mama and Mommy were a different story.

Thanks Melanie!

Melanie came to the appointment to support us.

2 months old!!!!

Dear Alex,
Holy cow!  I can't believe you're 2 months old already.  You gave me the best present ever on your birthday by sleeping for 9 hours straight!  I actually thought my left boobie was going to reach over and wake you up all by itself.
In your 8 weeks, you've made some huge accomplishments:

You are smiling now!

Your hair is coming in and covering some of the forehead I thought you had the misfortune
of inheriting from me.  You seem to have avoided what I refer to as "crop circle hair" that most of your peers have.

I think you recognize our voices.

I am super jealous that you can poop and eat at the same time.  What a time saver that would be for me.

You've already outgrown all of your 0-3 month clothes (thanks to the sweet, sweet nectar).

While I want you to nap, I miss you terribly when you sleep longer than an hour.

I know the time is going to come when you'll say things like, "Poop on your head Mama", and "Farty on you".  Or worse yet, you'll be soooooo embarrassed by me that you'll want me to park down the block when I pick you up from school.  And I can't say I blame you Alex, because just the other day I caught myself saying, "Did you facebook her?"  (Which I know is totally not right.)  And I happen to think it's O.K to wear socks with my clogs and shorts.
And you'll be all, "MOOOOOOOOOOOOM!"

But for now, I'm going to enjoy every second I have with you, BECAUSE YOU STILL LIKE ME.

And to my sister and all the Virtual Friends who said that my blog is getting so EMO (short for emotional) it makes you want to puke...
I will totally hold your hair back for you while you blow your innards because this kid has made me a total puss.

And finally Alex, I know there are better parents out there who have more experience with raising kids.  Just so you know, I totally have an advantage on them, because I AM a kid.

Love,
Mama

I am such a rookie

My big bro came over yesterday to watch the chicken so that I could get stuff done.  BFF has been real sick for the past few days, and she's trying not to give us the devil that she has inside her...so, Uncle T-Rav came and helped out.
Speaking of getting stuff done...the neighbor (who is going to watch Alex while we are away at work) looked after Alex for 2 hours on Friday.  THIS IS MONUMENTAL FOR ME.  This marks the first time that someone other than BFF or I have been alone with her since she was born!  I sprinkled some extra prozac into my triple espresso, and I went to the gym - WITHOUT ALEX.
I told said neighbor that it is just really hard to get stuff done while I'm with Alex, blah, blah, blah.
So, when I picked Alex up, the neighbor had managed to feed her 2 year old, feed Alex, put 2 year old down for nap, and bake 4 apple pies, IN 2 HOURS!

I am such a rookie.

whale talk...

This reminds me of whale talk in Finding Nemo. Sit back and enjoy.

I'm back!

I went for a ride up Lookout Mountain yesterday.  I felt great!  I probably looked like a monkey humping a football, but I was smiling.  And I made it all the way up to the parking lot.  Here I am in my circa 1990 uniform and my sweeeeet Oakley blades.

Alex left eye Lopez

We are still working on the naps.  In this pic, her right eye is napping, and her left eye isn't quite ready.

A billion o'clock

Our little angel let me sleep until like a billion o'clock this morning.  And then she kept sleeping until like a billion thirty.

"I'm so cute, I don't have to nap."-Alex P.

I'm trying to get her to nap, and here she is being cute...the nerve.

jogging again

Baby and I went to the park today so that I could attempt to run again. I have to clutch my chest with my arm to support "the twins" (along with the double bra). I look like I've been shot in the chest.

so proud

At the risk of all of my virtual friends hearing my baby talk, this is UBER CUTE!

My best Alex impression

Mama's got to get ready to go back to work. Alex loved all the sounds that were coming from my pack. She laid right beside me and looked at me the whole time. If I wasn't so deep in the pain cave, I would have giggled.

There's nothing for you to see here

Wachya lookin at?

crack the whip

This pic looks as though Alex is doing the "CRACK THE WHIP" dance move that I'm sure you are all familiar with.

ABS

I'm working on Alex's six pack. The audio in this cracks me up because I wasn't sure how well the mic would pick up our voices...so I decide to really shout.

hooter hider

I am a breastfeeding rookie.  This is my debut in public with my newly purchased "hooter hider".   Everything was well covered except for my bare melon.

light lunch

My boobies and I went for an epic walk today with Alex, 2 friends and 3 dogs.
We stopped for a light lunch of pizza and meatball sandwiches.

Now that I'm "working from home", this is how I get stuff done.  She likes to be held...

lesson # 467

This stinker worked us over again last night.  Just when we get used to her "routine", she switches it up, just to show us who's in charge.  She hasn't really been taking naps the last couple of weeks.  And I just said this morning, "...well, I guess she's just not a napper."
Here she is napping like there's no tomorrow.
Nice work little one, keep us guessing.

Mr. Fix-it

Our I-talian fix-it guy with a PHD.  He's single, but doesn't really like to mingle, so I'm offering him up to my Virtual friends.  He's a published author.  The book is titled "Dinner with Lucia".

Johnny Cakes

The chicken and I went to the Firehouse yesterday for some adult conversation (sort of).  Here we are posing with Johnny Cakes.

Look who has a camel toe.

She's really putting that button to the test.

Our little flower

When we take our baby out in the sunshine, she acts like she is a flower.  She arches her back, and stretches her neck as far as she possibly can towards the sun.  She loves the feel of the warmth on her face.  This is one of those moments that stops time for me...

tanning

They aren't going to lift themselves...

My pocket pal and I went to the gym again today.  I caught her just chillin on this pillow.
I was all, "Alex, those weights aren't going to lift themselves."
So I hired a trainer to work on the cut of her jib.

Pecs

Jim is encouraging Alex not to wimp out on those last two bench presses.

Triceps

She's working on her "lunch lady" arms here.

Hamhocks

Alex working out her very impressive hamhocks (quads).  So far, she seems to have inherited 2 things from me: my quads and my big toe.

Abs

The much needed abdominal workout.  Alex has really let herself go in this area.

Cardio

And finally, Alex decided to work on her cardio fitness.

Hulk

6 weeks old already!

39 weeks preggo

It is so weird to look at pictures of myself pregnant.  This is one of my last days on "light duty", or "heavy duty" as I called it.  I'm not sure what M and I are doing, but we sure look good doing it.  No more desk work if I can help it...that's a sure way to cure any illness or injury/pregnancy.

Public Service Announcement

I wanted to give the readers a break from baby pictures and it's time for a PSA...
Have you changed the batteries in your smoke detectors?  It should be done twice a year.  Let daylight savings be your friendly reminder.
(My favorite thing about this picture - it seems as though my right spigot has sprung a leak.)

Alex worked BFF over this morning.  This is the pile of laundry generated from a single diaper change.

NO MO GYNO

The chicken and I are real excited that we don't have to go back to the Gyno for another year.
Here we are on the butcher paper celebrating.

The Chief

The future firefighter meets the Fire Chief.  Big day for the Chicken.

Do we look alike?

Do you guys think we look alike?

Hello Alex

I thought she wanted some company on her exercise mat, turns out she wanted some privacy.

Manson Lamps

See what I mean?  That takes a lot of energy to open your Manson Lamps like that.
